In 1979, Utah got an NBA team. 

In 1934, the Cincinnati Reds became the first professional sports team to fly to a game. 

In 1968, Don Drysdale broke a 55-year record. 

In 1950, the Boston Red Sox scored 29 runs in a game to set a new MLB record that would not be eclipsed for 57 years. 

Texas Western beats Kentucky – This DiSH for March 19

In 1966, Texas Western (now UTEP) started five black players against Kentucky’s all-white starting five. 

In 1981, the Buffalo Sabres set the NHL record for goals in a period. 

In 1991, the NFL pulled the Super Bowl out of Phoenix.

And in 1995, Michael Jordan returned to the basketball court.

In 1876, Albert Spalding started a sporting good company.

And in 2008, the New York Giants spoiled New England’s perfect season, beating the Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl XLII.

In 1953, baseball owners took out their frustration with Bill Veeck, eventually forcing him to move the team out of St. Louis.

In 1920, Joe Malone scored 7 goals in a hockey game to set a record that still stands today in the NHL. 

And in 1993, Dallas beat Buffalo in the Super Bowl, but that game is known for one ignominious play involving Leon Lett.

In 1936, the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame announced its first class. 

In 1963, the NFL Hall of Fame announced its first class. 

And in 1995, Deion Sanders played with the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl, becoming the first and only athlete to play in both the Super Bowl and the World Series.  He was with the Atlanta Braves in 1992 when they played in the W.S.
