In 1902, the Chicago Daily News began calling the local baseball team the Cubs.

In 2006, the NFL voted to brand all Wilson game balls with ‘The Duke’ in memory and honor of Wellington Mara.

Horned Frogs epic comeback – This DiSH for Jan. 2

In 2016, TCU came back from a 31-point deficit to beat Oregon in the Alamo Bowl. That tied the record for the biggest comeback in bowl history. 

In 1971, 66 people died and more than 200 were injured in a crush of fans trying to leave Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow, Scotland. 

And in 1956, the Baltimore Bullets lost a road game, beginning a long stretch of road defeats that would become the longest in NBA history.
