In 1985, Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle were reinstated to baseball by commissioner Peter Ueberroth.

And in 1983, NC State survived a first round double overtime scare against Pepperdine to advance in the NCAA Tournament they would eventually win.

And in 1961, the Houston Oilers won the first AFL Championship.
