In 1919, an extra innings pitcher’s duel featuring Walter Johnson at the Polo Grounds was played. 

In 1980, Dr. J made his signature move against the Los Angeles Lakers.

In 1982, the USFL announced they would start playing in the spring of ’83.

And in 1893, Frenchman Henri DesGrange set cycling’s original hour record.

In 1945, it was DePaul and Bowling Green. But that’s not all, it’s a two for one special as the NCAA and NIT winners played to determine a consensus champion.

In 1973, Bill Walton set the record for most points scored in a championship game, but it could have been more if it weren’t for those pesky rules.

In 1979, it was the classic meeting between Bird and Magic in the National title game. 

In 2005, Illinois overcame a big deficit to advance, but it still leaves the question, ‘what was Arizona doing on their last possession?’

And in 2009, Scottie Reynolds buzzer beater lifted Villanova to an Elite 8 win and a trip to the Final Four.

In 2018, James Harden posted a 60 point triple-double, becoming the first NBA player to accomplish that. 

In 1971, UCLA started its 88-game winning streak with a win over UC-Santa Barbara

And in 1924, England beat France in the first Gold Medal Curling match.
