Also in 1991, a strange end to the Indianapolis 500 with Arie Luyendyk winning.

In 1937, Carl Hubbell won his 24th straight Major League baseball game. 

In 2012, Zach Johnson nearly coughed up a three shot lead on the final hole of the Colonial due to a faux pas.

In 1968,  Chicago Bears legendary coach George Halas retired. 

 

First Professional Baseball Team…sort of – This DiSH for March 15

In 1869, the Cincinnati Red Stockings became the first professional baseball team, with a few caveats. 

In 1892, the seeds of Liverpool FC were sown on this day with the ejection of John Houlding from Everton.

And in 1958, Maurice Stokes collapsed after a game, leaving him paralyzed and with brain damage. It was the result of what happened three days before.
