In 1876, it was the first major league baseball game between the Boston Red Caps and the Philadelphia Athletics.

In 1947, the Philadelphia Warriors beat the Chicago Stags to win the BBA Championship. 

In 1988, women were finally allowed to race in the ‘Little 500.’

In 1982, the Atlanta Braves lost to Cincinnati to end their consecutive win streak to start the season at 13. 

In 2003, NHL goalie Patrick Roy played his final game.

Babe Ruth a Brave? – This DiSH for Feb. 26

In 1946, the Yankees released Babe Ruth and he quickly signed with the Boston Braves on the same day. His stint there was short and didn’t go well. 

In 1989, the Dallas Cowboys fired Head Coach Tom Landry.

And in 1967, Mario Andretti won the Daytona 500 in his first and only appearance, becoming the first foreign born driver to win a NASCAR race.
