In 1978, French golfer Phillipe Porquier made a 20 on a hole to set the mark for highest score ever recorded on a hole at a European Tour event. 

In 1976, the New York Nets beat the Denver Nuggets to win the last ABA Championship prior to the merger with the NBA. 

And in 1983, football coaching legend Bud Grant was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

In 1968, Dancer’s Image won the Kentucky Derby but was relegated to last a few days later. 

Also in 1968, the Pittsburgh Pipers won the first ABA Championship.

In 1984, Dave Kingman hit a ball into the roof of the Metrodome. 

In 1979, Kirk Gibson was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the NFL draft. 

And in 2003, David Toms had an quadruple bogey 8 on the final hole of the Wachovia Championship and still won by 2 shots.

In 1962, Bill Russell led the Boston Celtics to a game 7 win in the NBA Finals.

In 1966, Red Auerbach announced that Russell would be the next coach of the Celtics.

In 1946, Jackie Robinson became the first black player in International League history. 

In 1942, the Toronto Maple Leafs won game 7, battling back from a 3-0 deficit. 

In 1974, Moses Malone was drafted out of high school by the ABA’s Utah Stars.

In 2001, AC Green played his last game, ending his NBA record consecutive games played streak.

In 1950, Green Bay Packers legend Curly Lambeau stepped down as coach and GM.

In 1968, Green Bay Packers legend Vince Lombardi stepped down as head coach but stayed on another year as GM. 

In 2003, Regina Jacobs became the only woman to run a sub-4 minute indoor 1500 meters.

And in 2014, punter Ray Guy was elected to the Football Hall of Fame.
